About

WealthSmith is a personal finance tracker built around one idea: you cannot improve what you do not measure. It records what you spend, groups it the way you actually think about money, and reports the handful of figures that change decisions — savings rate, needs versus wants, fixed monthly cost, and net worth over time.

The split that matters

Most tools stop at telling you what you spent. The useful question is how much of it you could have chosen differently, so every category is marked as a need or a want. What is left after the needs is the discretionary half of your budget — the only part you actually control, and the only place a higher savings rate can come from.

Your month, not the calendar's

Set the budgeting month to start on your payday and every figure lines up with the cycle you live in. A month that runs the 25th to the 24th is the one that matches your bank balance — not the one that happens to match a wall calendar.

Numbers you can check

Amounts are stored as exact decimals, never floating point. Account balances are derived from the ledger rather than kept as a separate running total, so any balance can be rebuilt from its transactions in one click — and if it ever disagreed with reality, you would be able to see exactly where.

Nothing locked in

Every transaction exports to CSV from the reports page, filtered however you like. There are no ads, no analytics and no third-party scripts — the pages load nothing from anyone else's servers.
